We have a dream …

The Dream Today – The Centenary Project

We heard, at the end of 2007, about the PCC’s dream for St. Catharine’s, a dream of how our church should be as we approach the centenary of its dedication in 2015.  We read about and heard about the many things that we want the church to be: a flexible and usable space, warm, welcoming and comfortable, where school children can explore, members of the community can feel at home, fellowship events can be held and worship is extravagantly great.  The list goes on!

The next stage in nurturing this dream is to work out exactly what we need next to do to make St. Catharine’s into this church.  We will, in the next few weeks, be using a simple process to take the 2015 dreams, identify the church functions needed for these dreams, and the detailed tasks to deliver these functions.

The PCC will review these functions and tasks, and work out the order and priorities of the tasks.  Tasks can be priced, and fundraising can be targeted at raising money for a specific task.  By using this method, we will be certain that a task, and the money to deliver this task, is focused on the functions and ultimately into the 2015 dream that we have for the church.

This is going to be a very, very exciting time for St. Catharine’s! Some tasks we will be able to do straight away, and for very little money.  Others tasks may take some time and require significant fundraising to be achieved.  All of us, here at St. Catharine’s, can be reassured that the dream of the church that we wish to have in 2015 can be achieved.  Just as the Galilee project fifteen years ago shows us, dreams can become reality, and that process can be both for the glory of God and a lot of fun!
