Leave a Legacy
If you feel able to remember St Catharine's Church in your will, after having provided for family and friends, the following may be helpful:
- St Catharine's Church is a registered charity (No. 1132760),
- Under current legislation, a legacy reduces inheritance tax.
- A legacy can be for a specified amount, or for a percentage or the whole of the estate residue (remainder after other legacies). Your solicitor or adviser can suggest which is most appropriate.
- Legacies to St Catharine's Church should be made in favour of 'St Catharine's Parochial Church Council'.
Sample wording is as follows:
I hereby leave to St Catharine's Church, London Road, Gloucester, GL2 ORR
EITHER
the sum of £............ (in numbers and words)
OR
the whole/* Xth part of my residuary estate in respect whereof the receipt of a
Churchwarden or the Treasurer thereof shall be a good discharge for my executors.
