Worship

"Worship lies at the heart of what and who we are as Christians: it shows God to us and us to God."

Worship Changes Lives, CHP (2008)

Worship is the way that we as human beings respond to the grace, love and mercy of God. When we worship, we come closer to God and deepen our relationship with him both individually and as a church family. Worship just doesn"t happen on a Sunday, it is a way of life. When we meet together for worship we do so in a variety of styles. We feel blessed that we can offer traditional and contemporary services every Sunday and meet together in smaller groups during the week.

On Sundays we have two main morning services. The 9.30 a.m. service uses Common Worship Liturgy and wide range of music from a number of hymn and song books. Solo singers and small vocal ensembles help lead worship alongside the organ, grand piano and other classical instruments. At certain times of year the church family choir sing.

The 11.15 a.m. service is much freer in structure. Worship is led by a worship leader with a band and contemporary songs and hymns are used. The first Sunday of the month is an All Age service and the music chosen reflects that. On the 3rd Sunday of the month the 0-13 year old have a separate celebration at 11.15 a.m. led by the Kids' Celebration Band.

A monthly midweek "Free to Worship" service is open to any who wish to come and spend time worshipping God. This is a time to sit and be in God's presence responding to his amazing love for us all.

There are many opportunities to serve in the Worship Ministry Team at St. Catharine's so do get in touch if you feel this might be something for you.

We especially encourage young worship leaders, singers and musicians and offer them support and training to improve their skills. Children and Youth make up a large part of our team and are very welcome. For more information contact Sarah Todd at worship@stcatharine.org.uk.
